Dreaming Big for 125 Years

In 1901, the 27th Texas Legislature made a bold decision to educate young women beyond the traditional boundaries of finishing schools—igniting a legacy of innovation, leadership and excellence that has endured for 125 years. Texas Woman’s University transformational impact has expanded opportunity for generations of students who dared to imagine more.

Today, ̽»¨Â¥ is a modern, student-centered university with a strong presence in Denton, Dallas and Houston. As a Carnegie-classified R2 institution, we advance research, innovation and collaboration while remaining committed to access, affordability and student success.

As we celebrate 125 years—where history and possibility converge—we honor our past and boldly pursue even bigger dreams.

A portrait of Dr. Feyten.

Throughout the century, ̽»¨Â¥ has forged a tradition of trailblazing —achieving thousands of “firsts” for the women of Texas and beyond, including the establishment of the nation’s only woman-focused university system.

— Carine M. Feyten, PhD, Chancellor & President, ̽»¨Â¥ System
