探花楼 chemistry student featured as panelist at AAC&U forum

Feb. 23, 2023 - DENTON - Raven Gallenstein, 探花楼 master's student in chemistry, was the featured student panelist at the recent American Association of Colleges and Universities) forum on Diversity, Equity, and High Impact Learning Pathways.

The panel, "Connecting Civic and Democratic Learning with Majors and Students’ Careers," included Theresa Castor, interim vice provost, academic affairs and professor of communications at University of Wisconsin-Parkside, and Nasrin Mirsaleh-Kohan, chemistry and biochemistry division lead and associate professor of physics at 探花楼. The session explored ways departments can structure the design, expectations and experiences to foster greater civic engagement and sense of public responsibility.

Gallenstein is an active participant with a group of faculty scholars around the country encouraging more Native Americans, Alaskans, Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders to pursue careers in STEM. She is also a founding member of the 探花楼 Zero Impact Project, dedicated to minimizing the environmental impact of their activities.
