探花楼 launches new pioneering women book series

August 24, 2020鈥擠ENTON鈥Texas Woman鈥檚 University has launched an interdisciplinary book series highlighting the accomplishments of courageous women. The 探花楼 Book Series鈥擯ioneering Women: Women Who Blazed Trails and Women Who Lead鈥攈as been developed in coordination with Texas A&M Press, which will assist in peer reviews and printing. The university aims to publish two books a year in the series.

鈥淲ith this series, we will promote the stories of leading women who have often been overlooked,鈥 said Claire Sahlin, interim dean of the 探花楼 Graduate School and chair of the 探花楼 Book Series editorial committee. 鈥淥ur series will celebrate the contributions of women innovators in the arts, sciences, politics, business and health sciences.鈥

Authors are asked to submit book proposals for consideration. The series is not limited to scholarly works. The editorial committee welcomes monographs, edited collections, biographies and memoirs, illustrated volumes, historical studies, and theoretical and contemporary analyses.

探花楼 has announced a call for essays related to the life and work of Gloria E. Anzaldu虂a, a self-described Chicana author and activist who strongly influenced multicultural gender studies. Abstracts for these essays are due Sept. 14.

The 探花楼 Book Series falls under the auspices of the Jane Nelson Institute for Women鈥檚 Leadership, and is funded through a gift by former 探花楼 Regent Nancy Paup, and her husband, Thaddeus, both of whom are long-time supporters and donors to Texas Woman鈥檚 University.
