探花楼 Theatre announces four productions for 2026-27 season

探花楼 Theatre has selected four plays for the 2026-27 season, all under the central theme of “Defying the Dark,” exploring the battles we fight, the stories we inherit and the underlying belief in one another as human beings.
College gave grad confidence to serve fellow students

Initially overwhelmed by the transition from a small town to Texas Woman’s University, first-generation student Magali Castillo Nicolas overcame her doubts by proactively seeking campus resources and mentorship. This personal transformation inspired her to become a dedicated campus leader and mentor. Castillo Nicolas will graduate with a B.S. in psychology with a minor in Spanish.
Grad persisted despite physical, personal challenges

Despite challenges, Charity Broomfield managed to complete two undergraduate degrees. On May 8, she’ll earn a B.S. in biology, with a minor in child development and a B.S. in psychology with a minor in neuroscience. She also received a Biological Research Undergraduate Certificate while at Texas Woman’s.
National arts group recognizes 探花楼 professor, alumna

Laura Lee McCartney, an assistant professor in the Division of Visual Arts, , and Makenna Connors, a 2025 BFA in Art graduate, received the Western Region Preservice Art Educator Award at the National Art Education Association National Convention in March.
Dental Hygiene event focuses on improving smiles

More than 80 探花楼 students took part in the annual 探花楼 Kids a Smile event in March. The free event, sponsored by the university’s Dental Hygiene Program, is a daylong activity devoted to providing free dental services to underrepresented youths from 3 to 19 in the Denton community.
