Auditing Courses

Students will be charged to audit courses according to the student鈥檚 residency classification (i.e. in-state, out-of-state, undergraduate or graduate) and the number of course credit hours. The total cost to audit a class will include:

  • Tuition (includes Designated, Graduate Surcharge and Program Surcharges*)
    • *Nursing, Dental Hygiene, Occupational Therapy, Library & Information Studies, Fashion Textiles, Communication Sciences, Health Studies, Music, College of Business, Biology, Chemistry, Dance, Education(EDUC courses only), Physical Therapy, Psychology, Philosophy, Counseling, Marriage&Family Therapy, Social Work
  • University Services Fee
  • Program Fee

Any person 65 years of age or older may audit classes without charge providing there is space available. Information may be secured in the Registrar鈥檚 Office.

Auditing Course Guidelines

  • The auditor may not participate in the laboratory part of a course or in a studio, practicum, workshop, or activity course
  • Attendance as an auditor may not be made on the basis of a claim for course credit
  • Audited courses are not recorded on the student鈥檚 permanent record
  • Online classes may not be audited

How to Apply to Audit

  • Permission to audit a class must be obtained after the first class day of a term
  • Obtain an Course Audit Approval Form [pdf] from Registrar鈥檚 Office
  • Obtain Instructor approval/signature on slip
  • Take approved audit slip to Bursar鈥檚 Office for calculation and payment of audit fees
    • The charges must be paid in full at the time of the request
    • The audit slip will be stamped paid at the time of payment
  • Take copy of the paid audit slip to the Registrar鈥檚 Office
