Alumna’s mural brings new life to Oak Cliff

Issy Martinez, a 探花楼 alumna, has unveiled her first mural since graduation in her Dallas neighborhood, Oak Cliff. The project was coordinated by studio art professor Giovanni Valderas with the hope of launching a new mural district.

Rascally Ravens of Greystone Farm, illustrated by Texas Woman’s University Visual Arts Professor Sheli Petersen, placed as a finalist in the prestigious 2026 The Wishing Shelf Book Awards picture books for 6-8 year old category.
National arts group recognizes 探花楼 professor, alumna

Laura Lee McCartney, an assistant professor in the Division of Visual Arts, , and Makenna Connors, a 2025 BFA in Art graduate, received the Western Region Preservice Art Educator Award at the National Art Education Association National Convention in March.

Griffiths manifests A Yellow Rose into the world

Six years of work are coming to fruition with the publication of 探花楼 Visual Arts professor Meg Griffiths' book, A Yellow Rose Project: Responses, Reflections, and Reactions to the Nineteenth Amendment. A book signing will take place Sept. 4.
